Open House at Shooting Star Farm

Scot Tolman and his family are hosting an Open House at their facility ‘Shooting Star Farm’ in Spofford, New Hampshire on October 13th & 14th.

Scot Tolman has been breeding Dutch Warmbloods for over 30 years. He is a KWPN- NA Platinum level breeder since 2017 and was named KWPN-NA Breeder of the Year in 2015. Shooting Star Farm has bred many first premium foals, top ten keuring horses, Ster, Elite, Preferent and Prestatie mares, and several sport horses, including four Grand Prix horses. Next to that, SSF has imported several stallions of which Gaudi SSF (Totilas x De Niro) is the most well-known. Scot manages his own breeding and has an extraordinary success-rate with frozen semen. Scot has written articles for Warmbloods Today, including the popular column,”Warmblood Whoas”, KWPN-NA newsletters and has maintained an active blog with his reflections on breeding and bloodlines for almost 30 years.

Scot explains his motivations for organizing this Open House:
“My primary goals for Shooting Star Farm over the last 30+ years have been trifold:
1. Develop an internationally important breeding program
2. Educate breeders and riders to improve the overall breeding pool of Dutch horses in North America
3. Help people afford the horses of their dreams
Our new facility is a physical representation of these goals, and, with this schedule, I’m hoping not only to showcase our program and celebrate our successes, I’m also hoping to provide an educational opportunity aimed at giving people an opportunity to learn about KWPN horses and network with other breeders and experts from around the world. There should be something here for non-horse people, new breeders, and those of us who have been in the business of breeding horses for decades. “

This Open House will be a great educational and networking event for breeders, owners and enthusiasts, with lots of top KWPN/ KWPN-NA horses!

The schedule:

Friday, October 13th:
Dinner and social time. There will be plenty of food and libation to augment the conversation and festivities. Scot is making one of his favorite dishes, Pastitsio, along with one of his most popular desserts, Tiramisu Trifle.
*please, RSVP if you’re planning on being here Friday night, so there will be enough food.
