Next month, from August 11-16, KWPN Horse Days will take place at the KWPN Center. This new equestrian facility is located on the same grounds as the Dutch Equestrian Federation. The FEI World Breeding Championships for Young Dressage Horses will be organized at this location as well from 2016 on.

KWPN Horse Days is the highlight of the summer season. The best three-year-old mares and foals will compete in the National Breeding Championships. They are selected at the inspections in the months prior to the event. For the three-year-old mares this starts at the regional inspections where they are evaluated on conformation and free movement or jumping. Later in the season, at the Central Inspections, the top mares and -foals of every region are invited for the National Breeding Championships.

Besides the breeding classes, KWPN Horse Days also offers various national young horse championships.

  • The Isah Cup is a series of championships for young jumping horses aged four through seven. The best five-, six- and seven-year-olds in the final ranking will be invited to go to the World Breeding Championship for Young Jumping Horses in Lanaken, Belgium, this September.
  • The Pavo Cup is the championship for the young dressage horses. The best 30 four- and five-year-old combinations will qualify for the team selection competitions held next spring for the FEI Young Dressage Championship Horses in 2015.
  • Besides the above, the KWPN also organizes a championship for five-year-old eventing horses and assesses talent for four-year-olds. From these youngsters, auction horses for the KWPN Eventinghorse Sale will be selected. The KWPN Eventinghorse Sale will take place on October the 10th during Military Boekelo-Enschede.
  • Those interested in driving and harness horses, should not miss the final day of the KWPN Horse Days, the National Harness Horse Day on Saturday the 16th of August.

The KWPN organizes extra activities especially for foreign visitors, such as a special welcome and guidance from a Dutch breeder on-site as well as a guided tour to equestrian facilities near the venue.

Admission is free on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday through Saturday entrance is €5,- per person per day. For the time schedule, travel information and contact details please visit: www.kwpnhorsedays.com.

The KWPN (Studbook of the Royal Dutch Sport Horse) is the breeding organization of the Netherlands for jumpers, dressage horses, harness horses, and Gelders horses. The KWPN has about 26,000 members and an average of 10,000 foals born in the Netherlands each year. Performance, durability, and attractive conformation are the most important factors on which the international success of the Dutch horse is based. For years, the KWPN has topped the studbook rank list of the international breeding umbrella organization, the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH).
