The first day of the KWPN Stallion Inspection yields 32 designated jumping stallions
The first day of the online KWPN Stallion Inspection in Ermelo, The Netherlands, is over! With a good harvest of 32 jumping stallions, including three premium ones, we got off to an excellent start.
In terms of pedigree it was a varied day today. Some sires showed their first sons, the eight-year-old Ibolensky was immediately appointed two sons, and several proven sires showed up again. The proven Cornet Obolensky, Diamant de Semilly, Thunder van de Zuuthoeve and Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve were all appointed two sons.
Stallion inspection committee member Wout-Jan van der Schans had to be replaced last minute by Arie Hamoen, but that did not prevent the committee from forming a harmonious team today. “We were able to judge very pleasantly today. In general, the stallions could be judged well and we are very pleased with the 32 stallions that we will be able to see under saddle in the performance test ”, responds committee chairman Cor Loeffen. “We selected on conformation, pedigree and free jumping. We also paid attention to scope, reflexes and light-footedness in the canter. A few times we have given genetically very interesting stallions the benefit of the doubt because we will soon be able to estimate their natural talent much better in the performance test.
Three stallions earned the title premium stallion today and are therefore invited to the premium ring that will take place tomorrow afternoon. For the first time this year, stallions with a non-KWPN life number could also be invited to receive a premium. Premium stallions of today are:
- Nouri W (Cohinoor VDL x Carrera VDL, breeder K.J. van Weperen from Oosterwolde) owned by VDL Stud
- Night Life VDL (Erco van ‘t Roosakker x Arezzo VDL) from breeder VDL Stud
- Saltador ter Putte (For Pleasure x Diamant de Semilly, breeder Family De Maertelaere) owned by Egbert Schep
Tomorrow the program will continue from 9 a.m. Today the KWPN Livestream could count on about 15,000 unique visitors from more than 40 different countries!
