Yesterday, March 6th, the first virtual KWPN-NA Annual General Meeting (AGM) took place. The meeting was broadcasted live on Facebook, while the members were attending it via Zoom. Three Dutch KWPN judges joined and supported us on Zoom: Henk Dirksen, Viggon van Beest and Bart Henstra.

First, new KWPN-NA Chair and Iron Spring Farm manager Meghan de Garay announced the 2020 accomplishments and the latest news on the KWPN-NA. After that, we shared the Committee Updates: Financial, MC, Stallion committee, Marketing. The financial status of the KWPN-NA was brought to us by our treasurer Sandy Harper, who could share a positive report with us, which was also due to the pandemic, that made our expenses less than normal. More good news was that we had record proceeds on our Stallion Service Auction. Meghan announced an extra investment in marketing, with hiring Liz van Woerden per the 1st of January, to manage our PR, social media and marketing. Finally, the tentative 2021 Keuring schedule was shared:

After the break, we enjoyed a great presentation by KWPN Inspector Henk Dirksen about the KWPN Stallion inspection. He explained the whole process around the stallion selection and his presentation was then followed by videos of the premium stallions from both directions. After the question round, we continued with an interesting presentation from KWPN Inspector Viggon van Beest. He showed us the 2020 approved Harness horse stallions, after explaining the selecting process for stallions from the Harness horse breeding direction. In the question & answer part of Viggon’s presentation some questions were asked about cross breeding between Harness horses and other directions and in which books these crosses should be placed, which made for an engaging discussion.

The KWPN- NA Special Award Presentations was the last part of the AGM. The following awards were presented:
Willy Arts – Member of the Year
Suppenkasper– Horse of the Year
Sporting Chance Farm– Breeder of the Year
Liz van Woerden– Ambassador of the Year
Michelle Bartlett– Lifetime Achievement award
Congratulations to all these very deserving winners!
The awards presentation was followed by a social hour with a lively discussion, which was on Zoom for members only.
We want to explicitely thank the KWPN judges for joining our meeting, giving such great presentations and helped answering the incoming questions. Furthermore we want to thank everyone else that helped make this AGM a success and finally all the members that watched and asked such interesting questions. We couldn’t have done this all without everyone working together so well.
