After a long period of interest from abroad, the stallion belonging to Roelof Harm Veenstra has really been sold to the U.S. where he will continue his breeding career.

Patijn, who earned the preferent predicate this spring, had stood at stud at stallion station Veenstra for about six years. Roelof Harm Veenstra bought him last year from Harmannus Boelens, who remained co-owner. Henk van Til is down as the breeder of Patijn, but he bought the ster preferent mare Julony (s. Renovo) from Reinder Tel while she was pregnant by Kolonel. The resulting foal was born in 1997 at Van Til Stables.

Winner of multiple championships, Patijn leads the KWPN indexes and has three approved sons. These are the well-known Atleet, Artiflex and Waldemar. Artiflex is on the watch list and Waldemar was exported to the U.S., as was approved grandson Colonist. Through Waldemar, Patijn is the grandsire of champion stallion Cizandro, and through and Atleet the grandsire of Eebert. Patijn also produced very good keuring mares and competition horses. Son Fantaijn (out of Uderose keur by Manno) was this year’s harness champion of the KWPN Stallion Show.

Patijn bred about 55 mares in 2012, and has already bred about 30 this season.
