Big Star Erkend for KWPN Breeding
Big Star granted Erkend Status by KWPN.
One of the most talked-about jumpers of the moment is the phenomenal nine-year-old KWPN stallion Big Star (PROK s. Quick Star out of Jolanda by Nimmerdor), ridden by Nick Skelton. The British rider discovered the talented bay, bred by Kees Klaver of Schoorl, as a youngster in the Netherlands and trained him through Grand Prix level. At age eight, Big Star won several Grands Prix in Wellington. The Quick Star son is more than living up to his name and developing into a jumper in a league of his own. This year, the Skelton-Big Star combination has won competitions including the Grand Prix of Antwerp and the Global Champions Tour in Hamburg. In Aachen, they confirmed their outstanding form by capturing the Preis von Europa.
Big Star is available for breeding on a very limited basis. Among his small collection of offspring is his son Estrello (ds. Heartbreaker x Pilot) who was selected this spring for the KWPN performance test. Big Star’s dam Jolanda (s. Nimmerdor) earned the sport(jump) predicate and competed in ZZ-level show jumping. She is a half-sister to the KWPN stallion Matterhorn. Big Star’s granddam Elysette is a keur preferent daughter of G.Ramiro Z, and her dam Paerel is a keur preferent daughter of the English Thoroughbred Erdball xx as well as a half-sister to the KWPN stallion Amethist. Based on Big Star’s outstanding achievements, including his performance today in London, the KWPN Stallion Selection Committee has motioned to award this Quick Star son recognized status.
Big Star’s jumping index is 143 with 56% reliability.
The stallion meets KWPN radiographic requirements.
