Report From the Road – On Course Riding Academy (NJ)
Date: 9/24/2022
Lafayette, NJ
Host: Katie Moriarty
Jury: Bart Henstra & Arie Hamoen
Today we are back on the East Coast, at the On Course Riding Academy in New Jersey. We start off on a brisk morning, but are grateful to our host Katie Moriarty and happy to be back at this lovely facility.
Congratulations to all of our participants for a successful day!
Please remember, that the jury’s remarks are for a snapshot in the lifetime of a horse.
First & Second Premium awards are given to horses that exceed and/ or meet the KWPNs high breed standards, and we are grateful to the owners and breeders for showing them to us. Not all first premium or ster horses are mentioned in ‘The Report from the Road ‘, only those horses that really stand out to the jury.
Dressage Geldings for Studbook/ Ster 3 YO:
Oskar – (Hennessy x Beatrice VDL ster by Prestige VDL)
Owner: Christopher Preston
Breeder: Denise Osborne
An elegant and refined dressage type, Oskar’s neck could be more vertical and more muscled, but he has a good back and loin with clean legs. He has a clear walk, with sufficient reach, his trot shows sufficient reach but could be more uphill and the canter has good balance and power, with good reach. A passing score for his IBOP with movement that is active, and balanced, he could be somewhat more vertical in the neck, but is well balanced in canter. Winner of the 3YO DG Bar Cup class today and he also earns the ster predicate.
Hunter Mares for Studbook/Ster 4-7 YO:
Noteworthy SC – (Sir Gregory x Darva by Rousseau pref)
Owner: Diana Rucci
Breeder: Sheila Armstrong, Stone Creek Sporthorses
This mare is well developed, an elegant type. She has an expressive, well shaped neck and a good topline. She displays a balanced canter, jumps with sufficient scope and front leg technique, but could bascule somewhat more. A Ster & Keur eligible mare, congrats!
Two Year Olds – Jumper:
Positano – (Omano BC x Giulia by Judgement-ISF crown)
Owner/Breeder: Katie Moriarty, On Course Riding Academy
This is a well developed, well muscled colt with a somewhat heavy head neck connection, a good topline with high withers and correct legs. He has a powerful canter with good length of stride and balance. 1st Premium
IBOP – Hunter:
Just Sailing IBOP(sp) – (Riverman ISF x Bon Voyage by Consul)
Owner/Breeder: Katie Moriarty, On Course Riding Academy
Just Sailing is very well schooled, very consistent and steady. Every stride and jump he is the same. He is careful, scopey with a good overview and very well ridden. A very good IBOP score today of 84, congratulations.
Maiden Voyage – (Florianus II crown D-OC x Bon Voyage by Consul)
Owner/Breeder: Katie Moriarty, On Course Riding Academy
A supple, long strided trot and canter, balanced with very good technique, open front leg, with her knee up, good bascule and opening of the haunches, however she could be somewhat more settled and steady. A talented horse that passes her IBOP today.
