Report From the Road – Florida Horse Park (FL)

Next stop, Ocala FL. We had to make some quick schedule and logistics changes, but our host and participants pulled it all together for a successful keuring.  Thank you all for being flexible.   We were happy to visit the sunshine state and all our KWPN members here, but relieved to depart ahead of hurricane Ian’s arrival.  Our thoughts for a safe passage of this bad storm go out to everyone that may be impacted.

Thank you to our host Kelly Gage for another well run keuring site on this year’s tour. Congratulations to all of our participants for a successful day!

First & Second Premium awards are given to horses that exceed and/ or meet the KWPNs high breed standards, and we are grateful to the owners and breeders for showing them to us. Not all first premium or ster horses are mentioned in ‘The Report from the Road ‘, only those horses that really stand out to the jury.

Jumpers for Studbook/Ster 4-7 YO :

Nuvolari de Lottie – (Verdi pref x Palotti VDL elite sport (sp) by Indoctro pref)
Owner/ Breeder : Matty O’Rourke
A well proportioned,  good jumper type with a good topline and correct legs. She has a long strided canter, is somewhat forward in her take off, but has a good use of the front leg and opening of haunches.  She is always high in her hip at the jump.  She earns the High Score adult jumper award, as well as the star and keur eligible predicates.

A long lined gelding with good jumper type earns his ster predicate today. He has a good attitude and overview for the jumps.  He has good technique, but he could be quicker in the reflexes and take off.

Dressage Horses for Studbook/Ster 4-7 YO:

Nick of Diamond – (Glock’s Toto Jr. x Diamant Heroique D-OC by Johnson pref)
Owner: Catherine Jensen and Austin Webster
Breeder: B. Lichtendahl
This stallion is a well muscled, correctly built dressage type.  He has sufficient length and a well shaped croup. He shows a long strided walk with good reach, good leg technique, expressive use of the front leg, suppleness and a carrying hind leg. His long strided canter has very good technique and carrying ability. He has very good rideability, and is a talented dressage stallion. Awarded ster today and has a good score on his IBOP of 83.5.  Congrats!

My Melody – (Jazz pref x Devinia by De Niro)
Owner/ Breeder : Olga Bikakis
A modern dressage type;  long legged, with a vertical,  well shaped neck,  high withers that could be longer and a  well shaped croupe.  She is long strided and has a supple walk.  The trot is light footed and adjustable with a good medium/extended trot with an uphill tendency. Her canter is light footed, well balanced and has a good length of stride. In the riding test she is somewhat against leg at times, but a talented dressage horse. With a passing IBOP score of 77.5, she becomes ster and keur.  Congrats!

Macan – (It’s a Pleasure x Gorona elite EPTM (dr) PROK by Uphill)
Owner: Mike Belmont
Breeder: R. Van Wolfswinkel
This stallion is correctly built but he could be somewhat more modern in type. He has a heavy neck but a good topline.  The walk has a sufficient length of stride, the trot and canter are light footed and balanced, with a good front. He has sufficient power and shows good rideability and workability.  A passing IBOP score and a ster predicate today, congrats!

IBOP –  Jumper:

Katapult is a very tall (1.79m) and powerful stallion son of Judgement-ISF crown.  He is scopy and big strided but has an adjustable canter.  He could be quicker and more athletic, but he is powerful. Congrats on the passing IBOP score!

A good jumper type colt.  He is well muscled has strong connections in the topline with correct, lean legs.  His canter was well balanced and supple with easy changes.  1st Premium

Yearlings – Dressage:

Radnor ISF D-OC– (Ibiza x Fienna D-OC by Sir Sinclair keur D-OC)

Breeder: INSPO
Radnor is a long legged and well developed yearling.  He has an expressive trot with sufficient power. 1st Premium, High Score young dressage horse today, congrats!

Yearlings – Hunter:

Ripley’s Rendezvous – (Carrasca Z D-OC x Golden Nip xx by Formal Gold xx)
Owner/ Breeder: Molly-Mae Mackenzie
Elegant with good type.  A well shaped and expressive neck, with a good topline with long wither. In movement we see a long strided, supple walk, also a supple and long strided trot, with flat use of frontleg. The canter was balanced with sufficient body-use, but could show more reach.  1st Premium
