Van the Man Second in Wellington
Cesar Parra earned good scores with the Obelisk son Van the Man (out of Lady ster by Fruhling, breeder: S. Serrarens of Stramproy). In de Grand Prix, Parra was second with 68.21%, finishing behind the seasoned Tina Konyot with Calecto V. In the Special, Parra’s score dropped slightly: with 65.06%, he finished fourth. Diana Mupko and Pascal (Julius out of Iletta ster pref prest by Burggraaf, breeder: H. Lamers of Schaijk) were sixth with 64.21%. Victory in the class was for Susan Dutta with Currency DC (s.Clintino).
The KWPN stallion Paganini (Havidoff out of Bea keur van Statuar, breeder: H.A. Verberne of Vlierden) and Cheryl Meisner were among the competitors in Wellington. In the Freestyle, the combination placed fourth with 67.43%, making a good comeback from their disappointing 13th place finish (62.13%) in the Grand Prix. Fifth place in the Freestyle was for Jill Irving with Pop Art, formerly ridden by Ashley Holzer. Bred by E. Korenberg, Pop Art (Amsterdam out of Jodyprinses keur by Cabochon) was pulled out of retirement to show in Wellington. Despite a scaled-back training program, he scored 67.13% with his new rider. In the Grand Prix, the duo ended fourth with 66.79%. Olivia Lagoy-Weltz placed sixth in the Freestyle, scoring 64.55% with the Balzflug son Rifallino (out of Jeda by Rossini, breeder: M.Hoenderken of Zuidlaren).
