U-Prova Wins Beijing Masters with Laura Kraut
U-Prova (Lorentin I x Maleika by Corofino, breeder: VDL Stud) won the Longines Beijing Masters with Laura Kraut. The competition was held in the impressive Bird’s Nest stadium, the site of the 2008 Olympics. The 12-year-old KWPN stallion was one of 11 horses offered as mounts to the 11 top international riders invited to compete in Beijing.
Due to problematic quarantine regulations which require imported horses to permanently remain in China, the international riders had to leave their own horses at home and compete on borrowed mounts. Kraut’s mount for the occasion was U-Prova.
Second place was for Christian Ahlmann with 10-year-old Cinetto (Cannabis Z x Nimmerdor). The duo was followed in third place by the best Chinese rider, Xiaokelati Abayi, with the KWPN jumper Ukendy (Cavalier x Kendy ster prest by Amethist, breeder: T.G.M. Krone), the former mount of Maikel van Mierlo of the Netherlands. The previous day, the very cooperative 12-year-old gray mare had placed fourth with no faults.
