Report from the Road – Varenna Keuring in Alberta, Canada

We are very excited to kick off the 2024 KWPN of North America Keuring tour in Alberta at the well equipped facility of Varenna Equestrian with our kind host, Antonia Allegro.

A big thank you to our Jury Members , Bart Henstra and Stan Creemers for their time to travel here and all over North America, as well as their expertise in evaluating our KWPN horses and educating our members.

The Jury saw a very good collection of jumping horses,  the highlight of which was the High scoring Jumper mare,  PENELOPE VF ster, keur elig (Messenger VF x Bini-Balou ster, sport (sp) by Balou du Rouet) who today passed her IBOP with a great score of 82, and is now a Keur mare. Congratulations!

12 Jumper Foals were shown, and the overall quality was high with all but one earning first premium awards!  Congratulations to the breeders!

IBOP – Jumper

PENELOPE VF ster, keur elig (Messenger VF x Bini-Balou ster, sport (sp) by Balou du Rouet BREEDER/OWNER: VALLEYFIELD FARM)   shows us that she is an athletic, scopey, smart and clever mare.  She has great reflexes, is careful and shows athletic scope.  She is eager to jump with a very good overview and is adjustable between the fences.  She looks like a modern , smart jumper horse.  She passes her IBOP today with a good score of 82 , completing the requirements to become a Keur Mare.  She is our high score adult jumper today and  is also the winner of the 4yr old Global Equine Sires Cup today.  Congratulations!

RING OF FIRE BF  (Tangelo vd Zuuthoeve pref x Nomi BF by Thunder van de Zuuthoeve BREEDER/OWNER: John van den Bosch)  This 3YR old colt shows good overview , good technique and opening of the haunches.  He has  a powerful take off, yet could be quicker in reflexes.  He shows good scope on the oxer.

Foals/Weanlings – Jumper:

UZANO BF (New Pleasure VDL x Dereusa S keur, sport (sp) by Numero Uno pref BREEDER/OWNER: John van den Bosch).   This very well proportioned son of New Pleasure VDL is a  well muscled and attractive jumper type with a good topline and correct legs. He has a powerful trot and canter with good balance, suspension and posture. High score young horse today, congratulations!

UTOPIA VF (Carrera VDL x Notorious VF ster by Messenger VF, BREEDER/OWNER: VALLEYFIELD FARM)  This filly is longlined with a long neck, yet she is somewhat weak in the back. She has a very athletic canter with power and good reach.  She is adjustable and shows good articulation and reflexes.

ULYSSES VF  (Messenger VF x BP Lady Mariebel ster, keur elig by Halifax van het Kluizebos BREEDER/OWNER: VALLEYFIELD FARM)  A well developed,  long lined colt. He has a  good topline with a long neck.  He is supple in trot and shows an easy, well balanced canter with good reach.

ULTRAVIOLET VF  (Mylord Carthago x Ophelia VF ster, keur elig, IBOP (sp) by Contefino BREEDER/OWNER: VALLEYFIELD FARM)   A well muscled and correctly built filly with a good body.  She has an active canter with good balance.

Foals/Weanlings – Dressage:

UBIQUITOUS UTOPIA SSM (Ferdeaux x Angel Utopia keur, sport (dr) by Tuschinski BREEDER/OWNER: Maile de Goeij) High score dressage foal.  She is a correct, expressive type with a good front and body.  She is lightfooted, and has sufficient length of stride.

Yearlings – Jumper:

TEATIME (Messenger VF x Iced Tea BF by Damiro B  BREEDER/OWNER: Todd Scott)
A longlined and well developed yearling.  She has a good topline,  is well proportioned and correct in the legs.  She has functional movement with sufficient power.

First Premiums:
