Clare Krska and Romincka take the Gold Jul 26, 2010
Sunday morning eleven horse/rider combinations vied for the title in the USEF Dressage Seat Medal Final for riders 14-18 presented by Dressage Today. Clare Krska, 18, from Olathe, KS, rode her 16th birthday present Romincka to the Gold. This was Clare's first trip to the USEF Dressage Seat Medal Finals and she heads on to NAJYRC competition in Lexington next week.

Wayne, IL - D G Bar Ranch topped the leader board as owners of both Champion and Reserve Champion in the Four-Year-Old division. Willy Arts piloted DG Brendo (Florencio x Sierra Siren by Volckmar bred in the U.S. by Lukes Bianko) to a win with a score of 8.46. DG Bantana (Flemmingh x Lantana V by Hemmingway bred in The Netherlands by P.Verdellen) , ridden by Caitlin Masiel, earned an impressive 8.32 for Reserve Champion in the division.
Reserve Champion in the Five-Year-Old division, Adje, a bay Dutch Warmblood gelding (Rosseau x Rodazdoruke by Jazz bred in the Netherlands by J.Pansier), was ridden by Willy Arts. The duo scored high with a performance on the championship test that elevated them from their fifth-place standing in Friday's Preliminary Test, finishing with a combined score of 8.116.

Ashley Holzer & Pop Art Win Grand Prix Kür at Lingen Jun 07, 2010
In preparation for the Canadian squad at the World Equestrian Games, Ashley Holzer and Pop Art (Amsterdam x Cabochon) won the Grand Prix Musical Freestyle on Saturday at the International Dressage Festival CDI4* in Lingen, Germany, with 76.300%. Fellow Canadian Cheryl Meisner on Paganini (Havidoff x Statuar) placed ninth with 69.400%.
The four year Beam P (Indoctro x Pepita-S keur by Emilion) and Natasha Smith-Avery won the Jump Canada 4-Year-Old Class at the Caledon Equestrian Park in Palgrave, ON, with a high score of 88 points.
Spooner and Pako win Derby in La Baule May 17, 2010
On Saturday, May 15, Richard Spooner won the derby at the CHIO in La Baule (France). The American rider and his gelding Pako (Farmer out of Epris by Rubinstein-Lorenz x Formateur, breeder Deborah P. Harrison, CA) had the only clear round in the 1,100-meter course with a pond and 21 jumps. His time 162 seconds therefore did not matter. Spooner and Pako won € 16.500 for their effort.

Eric Lamaze riding Hickstead claimed victory in the €20,000 Trofeo NH Hotels competition held Friday, May 7, in Valencia, ESP. He also placed second in the day’s other featured competition, the €20,000 Trofeo El Corte Inglis, riding Take Off.
Steffen Peters and Ravel won the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Freestyle at the Del Mar National Horse Show CDI in Del Mar, CA. Guenter Seidel and U II placed third and second respectively, while Susan Blinks and Robin Hood won the Grand Prix Special.

Julie Ballard Haralson joins Members' Committee Mar 31, 2010
KWPN-NA member Julie Ballard Haralson was recently elected to the Members' Committee.
Julie has been a member since 1992, and has participated in annual meetings and hosted keuringen since then. She also participates in keuring every year, sponsors awards, and promotes the KWPN with her own horses.
The Grand Prix dressage stallion Florianus was approved by the KWPN recently after a short performance test of five days on American soil. This was the first time that a KWPN performance test took place in America under the supervision of its daughter organization, the KWPN-NA.
The 1987 KWPN stallion Facet (Vanitas x Tolbert x Courville xx) was humanely euthanized today for colic-related reasons. Facet competed in Europe at CDI***s in the Small Tour and Grand Prix with former- Olympian Ellen Bontje in 1996-2000, then enjoyed further success with German Young Rider Gerda Lehmann prior to his sale to owner Gay Walker in February 2003.

The KWPN approved Trakehner stallion Gribaldi has died. Gribaldi recently earned the preferent predicate and is the sire of Moorlands Totilas and IPS Painted Black . “With very great pain and sadness in our heart we had to say goodbye to Gribaldi today” is on the website of Edward Gal. A tear in his aorta eventually became fatal. The stallion was 16 years old.
The 2010 KWPN Stallion Show is now history. A total of 28 dressage horses, 40 jumpers, 6 harness horses, and 4 Gelder horses were selected for the performance test.
This year again, the KWPN Select Sale (KSS) was the final event of the KWPN Stallion Show. Thirty-one horses went under the hammer. The highest bid was for Countdown H (Cornet Obolensky x Corland), who was sold to Stoeterij de Sterrenhof for € 90,000. Total sales were € 1,065,000. The average sales price of € 34,355 was approximately € 3,000 lower than last year's average but € 3,000 higher than the average sale price in 2008.
16 Horses Pass Vet Check for Masters Feb 04, 2010
All 16 horses that were presented for veterinary inspection passed Wednesday to start in the €100,000 (US$138,000) Exquis World Dressage Masters at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center.
On the first day of the 2010 KWPN Stallion Show, 18 out of 22 jumping stallions were selected for the performance test. Tomorrow is day two of the second and third round viewings for jumping stallions.
Each stallion selected for the third round viewing or performance test will be posted on the “results” page. A webpage of each stallion selected for the third round viewing will be posted on the results page. The webpages contain information about the stallions and video footage of their performance in the chute during the second round viewing. These will be available later this evening.
KWPN-NA Change of Officers Jan 13, 2010
At their last board meeting, the KWPN-NA BOD elected new board officers. For 2010 Willy Arts will be the Chair, Christine McCarthy the Vice Chair, Susan Taylor the Treasurer and Judy Reggio the Secretary. Also Dan Ruediger has been added as a new board member. Dan has served on the MC for the past four years.
The board wishes to thank Christine McCarthy for her contributions as Chair over the past two years. Through her efforts and diligence, the organization has moved forward on many fronts. Of course the work is never done and we look forward to the leadership that Willy Arts will provide for the coming year.

Only extraordinary stallions earn the preferent predicate and Manno more than meets those standards. He won many national championships and various sons and daughters are proving themselves in competition and keuringen.
The final shows have been posted and the 2009 Performance Horse Registry’s (PHR) Silver Stirrup Award winners have been announced. KWPN-NA approved Popeye K (s. Voltaire) was named the 2009 Silver Stirrup Leading Hunter Sire.
Totilas Sets New Freestyle Record of 92% Dec 17, 2009
LONDON, Dec. 16–Moorlands Totilas ridden by Edward Gal set a new world Grand Prix Freestyle record of 92.300% Wednesday night to claim the World Cup qualifier at the Olympia International Horse Show.
Totilas and Gal shattered the previous record of 90.75% that they had created at the European Championships in August. Totilas and Edward finished a staggering more than 11 percentage points higher than second place. Their score was the third time this year they have set new world records in the freestyle and all of them in England.
Adelinde Cornelissen and Parzival, a KWPN 12-year-old chestnut gelding by Jazz, scored 81.950% to finish second, as they did in Tuesday night’s Grand Prix.
Totilas Wins and Parzival 2nd at Olympia International Horse Show Dec 16, 2009
LONDON, Dec. 15–Edward Gal and Moorlands Totilas came within less than half of a percent point of their world record to claim the Grand Prix at Olympia International Horse Show World Cup qualifier Tuesday night. The pair posted a score of 83.66 per cent, just 0.43 % below their world record of 84.09% at the European Championships.
Adelinde Cornelissen and Parzival also scored above 80%, posting a mark of 81.277 %.
