KWPN NewsHickstead and Moorlands Totilas Win AachenHicksteadThe Hamlet son Hickstead gave his all in the jump-off of the prestigious Aachen Grand Prix and received the ultimate reward: victory. The KWPN-bred stallion and Eric Lamaze gave a fantastic performance, and as a result, the reigning Olympic champions won the world's most important Grand Prix. Bred by Jan van Schijndel (out of Jomara ster pref s.Ekstein), Hickstead once again bested a formidable field of competitors. In the Rolex Grand Prix, which included two rounds, four combinations stayed double-clear to qualify for the jump-off. Among them were Hickstead, the winner, and Action Breaker (Heartbreaker x Lys de Darmen), who placed third under Sergio Alvarez Moya of Spain. Twenty combinations went clear in the first round to advance to the second, among them the KWPN stallion Opium (s.Polydor) with Marc Houtzager. Moorlands Totilas, first and Jerich Parzival, secondBred by Jan and Anna Schuil of Broeksterwoude and owned by Kees and Tosca Visser, the KWPN-Erkend stallion Moorlands Totilas (Gribaldi x Lominka elite pref prest s.Glendale) and Edward Gal captured the freestyle (90.964%). Although they did not achieve another personal or world record, they did come quite close. Cornelissen and Jerich Parzival (Jazz x Fidora ster prest s.Ulft), bred by the Beyer-de Klein family of Puiflijk, performed one of the best tests of their lives. For their outstanding freestyle performance which demonstrated abundant expression and elevation, the pair earned 85.607%.
