GP Wins for Quick Star and Armani

Riders competed for big money over the weekend in Florida. With a handsome sum of €44,500 reserved for the winner of the Invitational, competition was fierce. Only three combinations emerged clear from the basic course, among them Jeffrey Welles, who clocked the fastest time. In just 44.36 seconds, he and Armani (Guidam x Fzostara by G.Ramiro Z, breeder: W. van Heerebeek) beat Peter Leone with Select (44.87). Malcolm Cone placed third with the Burggraaf son Ole (out of Kamora by Dukaat, breeder: J.A.M. van Oort Schepers) to take home almost €20,000. Nicole Shahinian Simpson had the second fastest time but finished fifth with Tristan (Lancelot x Lyande ster by Ferro, breeder: P. Lok).

Pablo Jose Barrios enjoyed victory aboard G&C Quick Star (Quick Star x Famose ster prest sport-(jump) by Grannus, breeder: E. & M.J. Sleutels). On Thursday, he won the $30,000 Grand Prix of Florida CSI, finishing ahead of Beezie Madden with Coral Reef Via Volo and M. Murphy with Katina 12. Leslie Howard with Raimond W ended fourth, just ahead of Barrios with his other mount G&C Sinatra (Epilot x Odette W sport-(jump) by Libero H, breeder: J. Dubbeldam).

In Neuendorf, Steve Guerdat excelled again aboard the Numero Uno son Urgent III (out of Pepite by Julio Mariner xx, breeder: W.B.J. Platzer). Riding two clear rounds, he clocked by far the fastest time and bested his competition by almost six seconds. Jurgen Stenfert also qualified for the jump-off, but a downed pole landed him in fifth place with Saffier (Laroche x Nevada s.Herannus, breeder: B.J. Sarink). Sabrina Rhyner with Rioja III (Animo x Erenia keur sport(jump) by Maykel, breeder: H.W. Hogenkamp) and Pierre Braunschweig with Orient Express IV (Concorde x Jeloma s.Nimmerdor, breeder: H. Huberts) also knocked down poles in the jump-off, but their times earned them eighth and tenth place, respectively.

A KWPN jumper also won the two-star Grand Prix in Vidauban. Jane Davies of Great Britain finished clear in the fastest time with Patrick VII (Indoctro x Imour keur pref prest by Notaris, breeder: J. Esselink).
