Annual Meeting Program Announced

Tentative Program of the 2010 KWPN-NA Annual Meeting

Thursday

                             Welcome Reception and introduction of speakers.

Friday

MORNING Hotel Lectures

Paul Hendrix:          Selecting and breeding quality horses, Training of young horses, Free Jumping of young horses – and how to judge it.

Arie Hamoen:         Top 10 of the Stallion Show – the top ten jumping stallions at the 2010 stallion show. A demonstration on video with discussion of these horses - why where they chosen, what are the qualities that earned them a ticket to the performance test, etc.

Bart Henstra:          Stallion Expectation Values – for jumping and dressage, what they are and how to use them in breeding. (New translated index will be available).

Johan Knaap:         KWPN - 2009 and looking toward the future.

 

Outdoor Program

Friday                    Carpooling to Palm Beach International Equestrian Center to watch young jumper classes while Paul Hendrix, Arie Hamoen and Bart Henstra will further talk about evaluating young jumpers and what to look for in a young jumper. Putting some the morning’s lectures to use.
We will go to farm of Julia Harrison-Lee for a Barbeque.

Saturday

MORNING Hotel Lectures

Michael Barisone    What does he look for in a Grand Prix dressage horse.

Arie Hamoen:         Top 10 of the Stallion Show – the top ten dressage stallions at the 2010 stallion show. A demonstration on video with discussion of these horses - why where they chosen, what are the qualities that earned them a ticket to the performance test, etc.

Paul Hendrix:          Marketing strategies of Hendrix Stables
Getting colts ready for their Stallion Presentation (training, feeding, preparation)

Deborah Harrison   Updates from the AAEP Convention.

Bart Henstra:          Evaluating Character and the scientific research and in practice and breeding.

Irene Wolfs:            General Marketing.

 

Outdoor Program

                             Michael Barisone will show several horses under saddle with commentary about conformation and other traits for dressage horses from Paul Hendrix, Arie Hamoen and Bart Henstra.
We will finish with Michael Barisone giving a lesson to Liz Austin riding Olivier (s. Idocus).

Sunday

                             For those who stay on Sunday, we will go back to Palm Beach International Equestrian Center for  a course walk with Laura Kraut prior to the Suncast Classic Grand Prix.  Paul Hendrix will give commentary while we watch the Grand Prix.
